Celebrating Diwali in a different way…
October 23, 2009 – 2:00 amThis year we celebrated Diwali in a very different and unique way. We organized “Dandiya or Garbha Nite” on 15 October 2009 in the evening. Dandiya Raas, is a traditional dance form in India which is performed during Navratri (festival) in Gujarat. In Dandiya or Garbha, men and women dance in two circles, with sticks in their hands.
All were asked to come dressed in ethnic wear or traditional wear. DJ played special Gujarati folk songs for Dandiya Night. Everyone had fun dancing to folk numbers with Dandiya Sticks in hands.
One tradition which is attached to Diwali Festival is ‘Rangoli’ making. We invited entries for Rangoli Competition in teams. We received seven entries of four to five members in each team. HR had a really tough time to decide on the winner of the competition. All the teams were creative and came up with beautiful rangolies. (Pictures attached below)
Exchanging gifts with all near and dear ones also marks the festival of Diwali. RedAlkemi presented its entire staff members with a unique gift, a Bamboo Plant in a small pot and Eggless Homemade Cake with a special message,
‘Dear RedAlkemist,
We hope you enjoy your eco-friendly Bamboo Plant and keep it on your desk as a symbol of green and peace! May the special Eggless Homemade Cake add sweetness to your Diwali this year.
Wishing you a very Happy Diwali!’
A healthy, green plant brings a lively energy into the home and this little plant adds a lot without asking much of you.
Celebrating Diwali in unique and traditional way was not only fun but memorable as well.
