Tips from our Experts
Here are some simple yet powerful tips from our experts that can help you gain more from your online presence. Try them out...

Web Development:
Test, test and test.
Give high attention to the quality of your website by performing thorough black box and white box testing throughout the entire project. It is very important to make the testing process and quality goals as gaugeable as possible. Also, the QA process should be flexible, as testing requirements for each website may vary according to its Industry genre. |
Design:
Most of the people specify size of fonts in pixels (because it relates with Photoshop). But using pixels as font unit has one major problem, pixels can’t be resized in Internet Explorer. As monitor resolutions increase, visually challenged might struggle to adjust the font size . So it's better to use 'em' as font unit. According to wikipedia - an "em" is a unit of measurement in the field of typography, equal to the pt size of the current font. An em is roughly equivalent to 16 pixels. To use 'ems', your designer must set the font size attribute in the body tag to 62.5 per cent like this: body { font-size: 62.5% }. |
SEO: Don't just rely on a single way, for Search Engines to index your website. Most importantly, you must put link to new pages on your site map. Update your Google site map every time you add a new page. If there's a corresponding page on your site that you can use to link to the new page, do so. Don't forget to mention your new page on your blog. In case of blogs, ping Google, Yahoo, technorati, etc every time you post a blog. |
Link Building: Make sure that you use supporting words, synonyms, and surrounding text. While doing the internal linking or external linking of your website, you must allow for minimum 20% topic drift while avoiding the use of exactly same anchor text every time. Using same anchor text for internal and external linking will make your website link pattern look 'unnatural' or 'contrived'. |
PPC: It's important to test the ROI (total profit-total cost) for each position of your PPC campaign to find the most ideal position for your PPC Ad . You may be surprised to know that in lot of cases, there is more money to be made from being in positions 3-6 because of the lower cost of attaining those visitors. |
Article Syndication:
When one's articles or product information is syndicated, it is much better to have the syndicated copies linked to the original article on the author's site, instead of linking them to the home page of the author. You may want to check out what Matt Cutts has to say about article syndication in an interview with Stephen Spencer. |
Website Usability: With more and more people using wide screen monitors, it's important to accommodate this aspect into your website design plan. If someone has a widescreen monitor, your website will tuck at the left hand side of the screen, and everything will look off-balance. So make sure you make your website center aligned. |

Except creating robots.txt file, what are the different methods through which I can control the activity of crawlers and prevent crawlers to index my private content ? – Rachel Galore
Ans: For many reasons, webmasters look to hide content from Search Engines for various reasons - sometimes due to privacy, duplicate content (like printable format), keyword cannibalization, bandwidth wastage etc. Apart from using the most conventional method i.e. by creating a Robots.txt file, you may use the following techniques:
- By employing "noindex," your meta robots tag will tell search engines to keep that page's content out of the index.
- Put the content in Iframes, crawlers can not parse the frames.
- Insert the content in images, crawlers cannot read them either.
- Use Java Applets
- Put form access for the content
- Login Password Protection
- Block the IP address range of the crawlers
- Manually remove the URL from Yahoo & Google
