Tips from our Experts
Here are some simple yet powerful tips from our experts that can help you gain more from your online presence. Try them out...

Web Development: It is very important that the code of your website application not only executes well, but also reads well, so that when someone refers to it even after years of development, it must be a piece of cake for him. Not only does it save your time and money, but also helps testers and developers to find and fix bugs found during the regression tests. Here is a list of some really useful code beautifiers and formatters. |
Design: Making a website design compatible for all browsers is a time consuming task for most of the web designers. It can be a real pain at times. To save your time, here is a list of the most commonly found CSS IE bugs that you are most likely to come across in the website design phase. |
SEO: For an optimized body copy, it is extremely important for a website to not only have the most important keywords, but it must also read well naturally. Modern search engines use artificial intelligence (called Latent Symentic Indexing), that is a measure of how well the supporting content and text match to the theme of the website. So there is no point of wasting your time on keyword stuffing anymore; instead you must look to refine the content as much as possible. |
Link Building: One of the quality of the most successful link builders is that they are the most generous community on the planet when it comes to endorsing for links. So you may want to dedicate a page on your website to a list of the industry leaders
in your preferred order with respective testimonials for them stating what makes them so great. You may then send them an email to invite them to use those testimonials as a sales tool to boost their brand value; chances are that companies link to anything that boosts their business egos. |
PPC: PPC can not only do wonders to your sales, but it is also an excellent keyword research tool. You can do a comprehensive keyword analysis according to the website demographics. It can also be quite useful to determine and evaluate the typo conversion data. While it's easy to rank for typos, with the help of the PPC tool you can take decisions based on the facts that which typos are most likely to convert into a sale. You will be surprised to know how well few typos tend to convert. |
Content Syndication: RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is the modern format of conventional content syndication, where you have the chance to dominate the Search Engines with your presence on the SERPs as you syndicate your web content to other sites and have it read by individuals with a news reader application - either on their desktop or online. Unlike article syndication, RSS feed can even be as small as a news item or expert advice like this one. Search engines pay a lot of attention to RSS feeds to evaluate the ranking of a website. Also, the fastest way to get your content indexed in Yahoo! is to add your feed to a MyYahoo page. |
Website Usability:
Do you know that the majority traffic on your website tends to ignore anything that resembles to an advertisement banner? This is because of the Internet phenomenon called 'banner blindness' due to which the users have developed web related schemata for different tasks on the web. So while searching something on a website, they focus only on the specific parts of the page where they would assume the relevant information could be, i.e. small text and hyperlinks. Banners, no matter how large or colorful they are, get ignored by the users. So the idea is to merge the banner advertisement in the web page in such a way that the user doesn't ignores an ad just because it's a banner. |

| Ask our Experts |
Q: We are just about to start our next project, which is a social networking website using Ruby on Rails instead of PHP or .NET primarily for the reason that we are already running short of time and we want to launch the website as soon as possible. Will Rails actually help us save development time or we must stick to PHP?
- Jerry Lawman
A: Even though Ruby on Rails comes with a variety of built-in functionality and pre-built components, but it is not always a 'turbo speed application development system'. Like any other programming language like PHP or .NET, the time of the project depends on the sheer complexity of the project. So just because you are using Rails, it doesn't mean that the project will finish on time. But if used smartly, Rails can certainly make the life of developers a lot easier. The biggest problem with Ruby on Rails though, is the fact that more instances of Rails means more requests to your database and at this point of time there’s no facility in Rails to handle more than one database at a time. But since you are working on a social networking site, the fact that twitter is the biggest Rails site on Internet right now, there is no reason why there are no fixes of that.

Featured Case study – Search Engine Marketing
Regonline
Overview: RegOnline is one of the largest online registration systems. RegOnline was designed and developed on the premise that companies who organize and conduct events do not want to commit financial and human resources to building and managing an online registration system. RegOnline's customers are primarily corporations, independent meeting planners, associations, universities, governmental organizations, and religious and non-profit organizations. Profitable since inception, RegOnline continues to grow through internally generated funds.
Challenges: RegOnline aimed to achieve online revenues using natural Search Engine Rankings. With the increasing role of high quality Link Building in the Search Engine Rankings of a website, RegOnline was aiming to increase it's rankings for a range of extremely focused and important keywords. The on-page optimization of the website was already done by RegOnline but it was lacking the support of quality link building to substantially improve their rankings on the major search engines.
Solution: RedAlkemi carried out a focused non-reciprocal Link Building campaign for Regonline.com spread over a 10 month period. We used a combination of Anchor Texts which had the most important keywords of the site. The links were established from industry relevant web pages which added great value to these incoming links and substantially improved the Search Engine Ranking of Regonline.com for it's competitive keywords.

Indian Art Collectors
Overview: Indian Art Collectors is a website meant for art collectors and artists. The site acts as a platform for 2 types of users - collectors can display their collections and buy sell art from each other while artists can sign up on the site and upload their collection. The site is developed in PHP using MySQL as database. The database of the site is quite huge with more than 500 artists and their collections and almost an equal number of art collectors. The database is structured in such a way that when queries are executed, the data is fetched very quickly without affecting the speed of the site. Other great feature of the website is that the sizes of the images or paintings which are generating on random basis don't get distorted irrespective of their original size.

The dilemma of Page Rank Sculpting, follow or nofollow
While every one around the SEO corner is busy hoarding the page rank of their website using nofollow attribute in a quest to rank the important pages of their website, I am quite sure this practice (page rank sculpting) is just an accident waiting to happen as webmasters will abuse it up to an extent that Google will do what they have done to ‘keyword meta tag’ – start ignoring it.
