Things to Ensure Before Posting Blogs, or Advertising Your Products or Services on a Third-Party Website

One of the biggest digital marketing trends of modern time is to post ads on third-party websites or blogs that redirect their audience to your products and services. While looking for such websites, a client checks upon various factors.

These include everything from the host website’s domain authority (DA) score, to how many visitors it has per week. Clients also check up on the host website’s SEO rankings, its server capabilities, how well it can handle traffic, and a lot more. These are all the technical details that the client and host need to sort out. However, there is more to do.

To ensure that you are safe from online fraud and scam websites, and can reap benefits from your ads or blogs, you need to ensure a few other things. By doing so, you can stay away from unsafe websites. You can also rest assured that your ads and campaigns are going out on a legit website, and reap the targeted benefits from those promotions. You can ensure all this by taking care of the following few things.

Check the Site’s Legitimacy

One of the first things you need to do is check if the website is legit. There are many ways to differentiate between a fake site and a legitimate site. You can tell a website is legit if it has the right security certificates, offers data security, is compatible with most browsers, uses correct spelling and grammar, and so on.

A legitimate website will also ensure proper Google rankings, and search engine optimization. Such websites follow all the necessary standards and are therefore trusted by most people on the internet. Hence, for your or your brand’s credibility, it is vital that you ensure the website’s legitimacy before promoting your products, services, or blogs on it.

Beware of the Type of Content It Shares

This point is very important if you are sharing blogs on that third-party platform. The content that the website produces needs to be in line with whatever it is that you are talking about in your blog.

For instance, if you want to promote your auto repair services, you would be better off writing about it on an automobile blog or car enthusiasts’ magazine than a random lifestyle blog. Learn to identify websites based on their content. In case you have trouble figuring it out, you can always refer to their about section, or directly contact them via the details provided on their site.

Avoid Websites with Too Many Ads

The problem with websites with too many ads is that people hardly want to stay on such sites for long periods. This will be especially harmful to you if you are posting blogs or articles on such sites. The readers will not be willing to stick around if they are bombarded with ads every once in a while.

Instead, pick something that will have a set number of ads, maybe a pop-up, and a few banner ads here and there, and go with that. Visitors can tolerate advertisements up to a certain limit. Hence, you will have to find a site that adheres to such standards so that your posts or ads are well-received, and not just ignored like the rest.

Avoid Websites that Post Controversial Content

Ads on controversial sites are nothing new. However, they should not be a regular thing. It is in your best interest to make sure that your ads or advertorials do not end up on sites or blog posts that post controversial content. For instance, anything that talks about or promotes hatred, racism, anti-government propaganda, conspiracy theories, etc. should be avoided when looking for websites to place your ads.

Controversial sites are regularly monitored by Google, and these websites are often flagged for their content. Besides, if someone shares your blogs posted on these sites from their social media accounts, they too will be warned, because these sites are not trustworthy.

Facebook and Twitter already have a list of sites that are notorious and post such controversial content. Make sure your blogs or ads do not end up on such sites. Otherwise, it will not take you or your brand long to get called out by the public and eventually get canceled as well.

Once you have made all these checks, you can then decide whether or not you want to post your ads or articles on that particular third-party site.
