What are the next big Things in Technology?

Over the years we have witnessed several technological advancements changing life for the better. Most of the things that were not possible in the past seem to be turning into reality now.

As you see our smartphones, smart-everything taking over, we’re sure you wonder about the next big thing in technology. In this blog, we’re going to try and cover some of the emerging technologies that will change the world (and are already changing the world). The technologies that we’ll be discussing have not grown in a year or so, instead they have grown after years of testing and experimenting.

Here are some future technologies that we can expect more of:

Smart homes

Talking about smart homes, the concept seemed unrealistic a few years back. But with the technology growing, this can soon turn into reality. In fact, a lot of homes are already semi-smart homes, with their appliance being controlled by a device or their mobile.

What is a smart home?

A smart home is connected to a device that you can easily access, thus giving you the entire control of your home even when you are away. The Smart thermostat by the Nest labs, smart locks, garage door openers is some of the common examples of smart home devices.

We can expect it to be a big thing in the future as according to reports the market for smart homes was valued at USD 40 billion and is expected to grow to USD 160 billion by 2023.

Self-driving cars

A self-driving car is an automated car, capable of sensing environment and external surroundings without any human assistance. Experiments and testing have been carried out on such cars since their inception in the late 90s. The self-driving cars by Google and Tesla are being tested without any human involvement to see how successful they are. Perhaps someday they will be all rolling on the city roads.

Hologram

This technology dates back to the late 90s and is growing rapidly with chances of becoming big in the future. For those who don’t know what holography is and how it works, the next few lines will explain it.

A hologram is typically a 3D image that looks like a real object, as you move around. It is a photogenic technique that records the light scattered from an object in a way to create a 3D object. This technology can be used in various sectors and industries. This 3D image is being used by doctors to diagnose disease and even visualize patient’s organs during operations.

3D printing

Seeing your imagination turn to reality is possible by 3D printing! 3D printing has already seeped in our lives. From shoes to home models, 3D printing is fast, efficient and effective.

Just like a regular printer, the task of a 3D printer is to print but three dimensional solid objects from a digital file. Sculpteo 3D printer is a well-known example of this technology. One of its benefits includes that it can create complex shape easily.

Apart from the technical experts, even the technical people should be able to handle this. This technology benefits for many industries. Similar to the example above, 3D printing could even facilitate replacement of organs!

Quantum computing

Quantum computers are capable of solving problems that are too big for a regular computer. The day is not far when this will be included for mainstream use.

You will be able to solve and analyze data in less time. It will be possible to predict any calamity or disaster in the future. Quantum computing is used for processing massive amounts of data.

We even stumbled upon an interesting yet unfathomable article recently wherein physicists in Russia managed to turn back time for a split second using quantum computer!

Space travel

Space travel will provide you with the experience to hop on to a space shuttle and visit outer terrestrial space.

There are few enterprises like SpaceX who are working on turning this into a reality that will change the scenario of the outer space altogether. An example of this is Amazon’s new shepherd space shuttle.

We hope that you are aware of the future technologies that will change the world of tomorrow. Now only time can tell whether they will turn out to be successful or not.
